Some of the dozens of different store models used during wind tunnel testing of the F-15E Strike Eagle dual-role fighter aircraft by Arnold Engineering Development Complex, headquartered at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee, are shown in this photo from the early 1990s. More than 500 aircraft and store configurations have been investigated throughout the years to ensure that the F-15E can safely deliver the wide array of weapons needed to accomplish its air-to ground and air-to-air missions. The Air Force recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the F-15’s deployment. Models of the aircraft, engines and other F-15 components, including those of the F-15E, have frequently been tested in AEDC facilities over the past 50 years. (U.S. Air Force photo)
