Wildlife are a common occurrence at the Chena River Lakes Flood Control Project in North Pole, Alaska. The Moose Creek Dam and associated features reduce flooding to the interior Alaskan city of Fairbanks, as well as providing local residents and visitors a myriad of recreational opportunities on nearly 20,000 acres of public land. Many species of wildlife such as moose, beaver, muskrats, squirrels, snowshoe hares, ravens, eagles, many other birds, and predators such as lynx, fox, wolves, and an occasional black or brown bear may be seen throughout the project lands. These animals are wild and should be treated with caution and respect. (U.S. Army photo by Rachel Napolitan)
