SILVERDALE, Wash. (August 11, 2022) – The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Sustainment, Erica Plath (center), and the Executive Director of the Program Executive Office for Strategic Submarines, Matthew Sermon, speak with Trident Refit Facility, Bangor’s (TRFB) Northwest Optical Regional Repair Center and RADAR Depot General Foreman, Kate Gendreau, during a visit to TRFB. Gendreau’s team is responsible for maintaining and repairing all submarine periscopes on the U.S. West Coast. TRFB is also solely responsible for overhauling all submarine RADARs for the entire U.S. Navy. TRFB's core mission is repairing, incrementally overhauling, and modernizing the Pacific Fleet’s SSBN force constituting more than 60 percent of the nation’s strategic nuclear deterrent which forms the foundation of U.S. national defense strategy.
