SILVERDALE, Wash. (August 11, 2022) – The Commanding Officer of Trident Refit Facility, Bangor (TRFB), Capt. Michael Eberlein speaks with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Sustainment, Erica Plath, on Navak Base Delta pier during her visit to better understand how TRFB is modernizing its facilities and processes in preparation for the delivery of the Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine (SSBN). The Deta pier, named for its resemblance to the fourth letter in the Greek alphabet, is the homeport and refit area for all west coast SSBNs. TRFB's core mission is repairing, incrementally overhauling, and modernizing the Pacific Fleet’s SSBN force constituting more than 60 percent of the nation’s strategic nuclear deterrent and forms the foundation of U.S. national defense strategy.
