Coast Guard Atlantic Area Commander Vice Adm. Kevin E. Lunday, Force Readiness Command Chief of Staff Captain Adrian L. West, Norfolk State University President Javaune Adams-Gaston, who holds a doctorate in counseling psychology, and her husband Dimitri Gaston welcome the home-team Norfolk State University Spartans to the field Sept. 17 in Norfolk, Va. at the William "Dick" Price Stadium. Lunday and West attended the “Battle of the Bay” rival football game between Norfolk State University and Hampton University, two Historically Black Universities, to emphasize the service’s continued support for the Coast Guard’s College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative, which is available to students enrolled at Minority-Serving Institutions, to further diversity and inclusion in the officer ranks through recruitment efforts.
