Coast Guard Atlantic Area Commander Vice Adm. Kevin E. Lunday tosses a coin in the air at William “Dick” Price Stadium to determine opening possession between football rivals Norfolk State University and Hampton University in Norfolk, Va., Sept. 17. As the “Executive Champion” for the partnership with Norfolk State University to promote the Coast Guard’s College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative, which is available to students enrolled at Minority-Serving Institutions, Lunday performed the opening coin-toss, he attended a recruiting event at the stadium, and emphasized the Coast Guard’s continued support for diversity and inclusion in the officer ranks through recruitment at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and Tribal Colleges and Universities.
