220928-N-XB010-1005 PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 28, 2022) – Operations Specialist 3rd Class William Roderick, from Mechanicsburg, Penn., looks through the “big eyes” for surface contacts and reports findings to the forward-deployed amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans (LPD 18) combat information center using a sound powered phone while standing port lookout watch on the ship’s bridge wing as the ship pulls into port at Subic Bay, Philippines. New Orleans, part of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group, along with the 31st MEU, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
