Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Jennifer A. Newsome, from Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, assigned to media department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), operates the ship information, training and entertainment television during a game of bingo aboard the ship in Newport News, Virginia, Oct. 4, 2022. George Washington is conducting a simulated underway to validate shipboard habitability and operational services to ensure the ship meets the final refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) milestones. RCOH is a multi-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades and modernization.
