    USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73)

Aviation Support Equipment Technician 3rd Class Matthieu J. Paquette, from Ottawa, Canada, assigned to the aircraft intermediate maintenance department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), utilizes a jubilee kit to patch a pipe during a general quarters drill aboard the ship in Newport News, Virginia, Oct. 6, 2022. George Washington is conducting a simulated underway to validate shipboard habitability and operational services to ensure the ship meets the final refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) milestones. RCOH is a multi-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization.
