U.S. Marine Maj. Spencer Hart, an AH-1Z Viper pilot, with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron (HMLAT) 303, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, attaches a hook to heavy equipment used to replace water reserves during long line external lift operations in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California, Oct. 16, 2022. HMLAT-303 Marines and state, federal, and private agencies utilized long line external lift capabilities of UH-1Y Venom helicopters to conduct a water resupply for endangered bighorn sheep and carry heavy equipment through mountainous terrain. Due to the rugged terrain, Marines of HMLAT-303 executed advanced landing techniques. Hart is a Davenport, Iowa native. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Joshua Brittenham)
