    26th Marine Expeditionary Unit

U.S. Marine Corps Col. Dennis Sampson, commanding officer of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), jumps from a CH-53E Super Stallion during helocast water insertion training on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Oct. 26, 2022. The 26th MEU CO joined the reconnaissance Marines of a part of the MEU MSPF during helocast and beach training operations to talk with small unit leaders and to gain a better appreciation for the various special insertion methods and capabilities the MSPF provides. Helocasting is an airborne technique used by small unit special operations forces to insert into hard-to-reach areas via bodies of water. This high-risk training prepares the Maritime Special Purpose Force for the upcoming 26th MEU deployment. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Matthew Romonoyske-Bean)
