SAN DIEGO (Oct. 31, 2022) – Lance Cpl. Edwin Figueroanieves, assigned to combat cargo, directs a mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle in the upper vehicle stowage area of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Oct. 31. An MRAP is a light tactical vehicle which provides Marines with survivable multi-mission platforms, including mitigating explosive devices, rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire threats.
