SAN DIEGO (Oct. 31, 2022) – Lance Cpl. Stephen Flores, an infantryman with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, directs Lance Cpl. Seth Whitten, assigned to combat cargo, in the transport of a dry freight container in the upper vehicle stowage area of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Oct. 31. A dry freight container is a 2,000-lb. dry freight container, necessary to secure and transport all classes of supply. Makin Island is currently homeported in San Diego.
