Chief Warrant Officer 5 Joedy VanVelzen celebrates his last flight as an Army pilot for the Iowa Army National Guard at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Boone, Iowa Oct. 20, 2022. VanVelzen completed his last flight after serving 40 years as a pilot in the Iowa Army National Guard. Friends, family and the Boone Fire Department came out to celebrate. Throughout his career, he flew 821 combat hours and 6,454 total hours. The water device is not only used for safety hazards, but also for celebrating milestones like these.
