YOKOSUKA, Japan (Nov. 18, 2022) - Capt. Lance Flood, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Fast East, left, Capt. Leslie Sobol Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY), center, Rear Adm. Carl Lahti, Commander, Navy Region Japan/ Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Japan, and CDR Tyler Scharar, CFAY public works officer salute during the national anthem at a ribbon cutting ceremony for a newly-upgraded Pier 5 located onboard Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY). The ceremony marked the completion of a two-year project that will support both legacy and newer classes of ships at CFAY. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
