Unsuspecting children peak out the window for a surprise guest at the local school in Minto, Alaska, Nov. 22, 2022. The community got a surprise visit from Santa and more than a dozen helper elves who brought 650 pounds of gifts, backpacks, hygiene supplies, and books via two Alaska Army National Guard Black Hawk helicopters for 65 children as part of Operation Santa Claus. Operation Santa Claus is the Alaska National Guard’s yearly community relations and support program that provides gifts to children in remote communities across the state.
