The Alaska Air National Guard’s favorite passenger, Santa Claus, relaxes on board a 144th Airlift Squadron C-17 Globemaster III aircraft after completing his second Operation Santa Claus mission of the season to Minto, Alaska, Nov. 22, 2022. Santa and more than a dozen helper elves started the mission flying from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to Eielson Air Force Base via a 168th Wing KC-135 Stratotanker and then continued their journey to Minto via an Alaska Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. Operation Santa Claus is the Alaska National Guard’s yearly community relations and support program that provides gifts to children in remote communities across the state. It its 67th year, the operation delivered 650 pounds of gifts, backpacks, hygiene supplies, and books to 65 children in Minto. (Alaska National Guard photo by Dana Rosso)
