U.S. Air Force Col. David Hood, 100th Maintenance Group commander, shares some of the history of aircraft 7999, a KC-135 Stratotanker, during a retirement ceremony for the jet Nov. 23, 2022, at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England. This was the first official retirement of a KC-135 at RAF Mildenhall. The 59-year-old tanker, which bears the World War II legacy nose art “Wolff Pack,” has taken its last flight and is now at its final resting place in “The Bone Yard” at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.
