    100th Air Refueling Wing

Robert Paley, 100th Air Refueling Wing historian, shows a photo of Capt. Robert “Bob” Wolff, former B-17 Flying Fortress pilot with the 100th Bomb Group at Thorpe Abbotts in World War II, during a retirement ceremony for aircraft 7999, a KC-135 Stratotanker, Nov. 23, 2022, at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England. The jet bears the legendary Wolff Pack nose art which was named in Bob Wolff’s honor. Paley was guest speaker at the ceremony and spoke about some of the World War II pilot’s experiences and famous flying skills. This was the first official retirement of a KC-135 at RAF Mildenhall.
