Illinois State Military Museum volunteer John Kennedy of Springfield, Ill., explains to Bill Farnum of Farmer City, Ill., and his family how a 106mm Recoilless Rifle used a 50-caliber single-shot rifle with illumination rounds to aim. The 106 was mounted on a M38A1 Jeep and was used by the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Kennedy volunteered to assist the Illinois State Military Museum during its Dec. 10 Christmas at the Front event at the museum in Springfield. The Illinois State Military Museum's mission is to preserve and exhibit the military heritage of the Illinois National Guard.
