Emmie Otto, a Pfc. in the Minnesota National Guard’s 851st Engineer Vertical Construction Company, 682nd Engineer Battalion, poses for her senior photo in the fall of 2020. Otto graduated from Mora High School in 2021 and joined the Minnesota National Guard as a horizontal construction engineer immediately after, graduating basic training and advanced individual training the following year. She is being featured as part of the Minnesota National Guard’s “Year in the Guard” series that will feature four service members at different stages in their military careers – Otto’s story will focus on her first year serving in the Minnesota National Guard.
