Juan Arteaga, a data manager of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division, readies for an interview aboard the Independence-class littoral combat ship USS Canberra (LCS 30) as it prepares to participate in its Combat System Ship Qualification Trials in San Diego, Jan. 13, 2023. Arteaga is part of a joint team of engineers, project officers, combat systems experts and analysts from warfare centers of Naval Sea Systems Command and Naval Air Systems Command who are working alongside crewmembers of Canberra to certify the ship’s combat systems during the multi-phase trials.
The CSSQT qualification process is a NAVSEA pre-deployment requirement to verify the crew’s ability to operate and maintain their combat systems in a safe and effective manner. It is considered a major milestone in validating the ship’s capability to defend itself, fight and win. (U.S. Navy photo by Neil Mabini)
