Littoral Combat Ship Combat System Analyst Alex Parra, left, and Data Manager Juan Arteaga, both of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division, make preparations aboard the Independence-class LCS USS Canberra (LCS 30) for its upcoming trials in San Diego, Jan. 13, 2023. Parra and Arteaga are part of a joint team of engineers, project officers, combat systems experts and analysts from warfare centers of Naval Sea Systems Command and Naval Air Systems Command who are working alongside crewmembers of Canberra to certify the ship’s combat systems during the multi-phase trials.

The CSSQT qualification process is a NAVSEA pre-deployment requirement to verify the crew’s ability to operate and maintain their combat systems in a safe and effective manner. It is considered a major milestone in validating the ship’s capability to defend itself, fight and win. (U.S. Navy photo by Neil Mabini)
