February is Black History Month and we asked our Soldiers "Why is diversity important in the U.S. Army?"
“Diversity is important in our Army because it ensures that everyone is treated fairly and equally," said Pfc. Ja'Kobe Barkley, 15R AH-64 Attack Helicopter Repairer, D Company, 4th Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-U.S. Combined Division from Fayetteville, North Carolina. "Having a diverse Army not only recognizes and values the contributions of different ethnicities, but it also creates a more inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated. This can lead to increased morale and a stronger sense of unity among Soldiers. Diversity in the Army can bring different perspectives and experiences, leading to improved decision making. The U.S. Army recognizes the importance of diversity and is making an effort to ensure that it is reflected across its ranks. This not only benefits the individual Soldiers, but also the Army as a whole.” (U.S Army photo by KCPL Um, San Ma Ru)
