As we continue to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth, we recognize Master Chief Religious Program Specialist Patience S. Ray.
In August 2021, Ray advanced to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer and became the first African-American woman to achieve the highest enlisted rank in the Religious Program Specialist rating in its 44-year history. She is currently stationed at United States Marine Corps, Forces Pacific in Hawaii as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Force Chaplain and Navy Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Headquarters Service Battalion.
Dedicated to lifelong learning, Ray also holds six NECs, a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services Management and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a Concentration with Rehabilitation and Reintegration.
Ray continues to set the example and inspire her Sailors in and out of the Chaplain and RP communities.
