A Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force sailor guides a landing craft, air cushion onto a beach with U.S. Marines from Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, during platoon reinforcement training as part of Iron Fist 23 on Kin Blue, Okinawa, Japan, March 8, 2023. During the training the Marines performed reconnaissance, conducted patrols and set security positions for follow-on tasking. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the JMSDF.
