Petty Officer 3rd Class Sholonda Boynes, a native of Hillside, N.J., and a surface warfare petty officer with the USS Carter Hall based out of Little Creek, Norfolk, Va., drags a hose to a sewer drain to excavate the water from the basement of an apartment complex in Far Rockaway, Queens on Nov. 5. The USS Carter Hall is a part of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based out of Camp Lejeune, N.C., aiding in the relief effort of the victims of the cities that were affected by Hurricane Sandy.
