A U.S. Marine with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162 (VMM-162) Reinforced speaks with Madeline Mortelmans Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) during a tour of the ship, on the Atlantic Ocean, May 23, 2023. This visit served to inform leaders from N95, OSD Cost Assessment & Program Evaluation (CAPE) and Policy of the operational capabilities embarked aboard the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) shipping and demonstrate long range capabilities in support of expeditionary advanced base operations, direct action raids, and maritime interception operations in preparation for the upcoming deployment.
