A U.S. Marine assigned to Bravo Company, 2nd Recon Battalion, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), watches the sun set while preparing for the next part of a movement through the wilderness at Pelham Range, Anniston, Alabama, May 20, 2023. The Marines are designated Maritime Special Purpose Force assigned to 26th MEU from USS Bataan (LHD 5), who upon arrival conducted a night movement as part of 26th MEU’s Special Operations Capable Certification. Expeditionary Operations Training Group organized C2X as the culminating exercise in the 26th MEU’s pre-deployment training program, ensuring they are ready to respond as a forward-deployed, sea-based MAGTF, capable of conducting amphibious operations as a crisis-response force-in-readiness and able to conduct contingency operations across the full spectrum of military operations.
