A new 3-D manufactured motor removal tool invented by Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC) (background) compared to the old method of extracting and replacing the motors with wire, which was heavily dependent on technique and had a high risk of failure. The new Electro-Optical Stabilization Subsystem (EOSS) motor removal tools provides positive control and maintains perfect alignment of the motor during removal and reinstallation.
