Chief Machinist’s Mate Nicholas Heinrich, the Additive Manufacturing Coordinator at Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC), successfully replaces a motor on an Electro-Optical Stabilization Subsystem (EOSS) on a Close-in Weapons System (CIWS) onboard USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68). The new tools, which Heinrich helped invent, reduces motor replacement time by approximately 40 minutes per elevation motor and 4 hours per azimuth motor. (US Navy Photo – Released)
