U.S. Navy divers prepare to descend and assess a potential coral relocation site on the reef (left photo), harvest and translocate a colony of a protected coral from the pier (center photo), then re-secure it to a new location on the Andros Barrier Reef (right photo) in the Bahamas in April 2022. Divers and scientists from Division Newport collaborated with the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific Littoral Dive Unit, NIWC Pacific Scientific divers, and Atlantic Undersea and Test Evaluation Center staff to successfully relocate the rare coral.
