Mountainous star coral (Orbicella faveolata) was one of several protected species of coral that was relocated during a coral mitigation project on Andros Island in the Bahamas in April 2022. Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport divers and scientists collaborated with the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific Littoral Dive Unit, NIWC Pacific Scientific divers, and Atlantic Undersea and Test Evaluation Center staff to safely remove and relocate the coral.
