U.S. Army Spc. Justin Sadler, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 115th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, Alabama National Guard, performs the deadlift event during the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) at Exercise Northern Strike 2023 on Camp Grayling, Michigan, Aug. 7, 2023. The ACFT consists of six different events designed to assess a Soldier’s overall fitness; the deadlift specifically measures a Soldier’s lower body, grip and core muscular strength. Exercise Northern Strike 2023 is a premier reserve component training event that integrates both U.S. and partner nation readiness training to build interoperability and strengthen partnerships in an all-domain environment.
