Staff Sgt. Zackery Rebiejo (left), from Dallas Oregon, and Sgt. Ryan Austin, from Queens, New York, Soldiers with 1st Armored Division, III Armored Corps competing in the U.S. Army Forces Command Best Squad competition receive a brief on cold and hot load training with instructors from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) on Aug. 13, 2023, on Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Cold load training allows Soldiers to enter and exit a helicopter while it is not in operation, while hot load training allows Soldiers to enter and exit the helicopter during a live-run. The competition tests the squad’s proficiency in their warrior tasks and battle drills and identifies the most cohesive, highly trained, disciplined, and fit team that is ready to fight and win – while demonstrating a commitment to the Army Values (leadership, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, personnel courage) and Warrior Ethos.
