U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jonathan Wise, rifleman with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, starts a fire in his hands after using sticks to create heat through friction during a “Cerrado” wilderness survival class given by Brazilian marines, Aug. 12, 2023, at the Base Expedicionária de Fuzileiros Navais in Formosa, Brazil, during the Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais’ (Brazilian Marine Corps’) annual Infantry Training Exercise Formosa.
