    19th Public Affairs Detachment

J.P. Richard, a retired artilleryman who served in the 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam War, sits in a restaurant during the Society of the 1st Inf. Div. reunion in New Orleans, Louisiana, Aug. 12, 2023.

“When we ran a shooting school we had the chart and all your safety parameters,” said Richard. “We didn’t have an RDP (Radar Data Processing) we had what was basically a made-up RDP with everything on there. It was only good for like charge three or charge two. It was a shortcut so we could run our shooting schools much faster.”
