A U.S. Army combat engineer from B Company, 23rd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division lays out a detonation cord for a C4 plastic explosive charge in a training area near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, August 22, 2023. Following wildfires in the area, some trees were deemed too hazardous to fell using conventional axes or chainsaws due to extensive fire damage. These combat engineers were able to gain valuable hands-on training by felling the trees with C4 while aiding the forestry department to help keep these public lands safe. (U.S. Army photo by Spc.
