Sgt. Brandon Bamba, an ammunition specialist from New York assigned to the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, New York Army National Guard, joined the Army National Guard in 2015. He is currently deployed to Al Asad Air Base, Iraq, as the noncommissioned officer in charge of the air distribution section.
“I joined the military because I wanted to be part of that bond everyone hears about when they are told about the military,” said Bamba. “I wanted to be a part of something that helped not only the people of the United States but also given the opportunity, other people around the world.”
Bamba says what he likes best about the military is the experiences, good or bad, and the “mission first” mindset. “Always look for the good in a bad situation,” is the best military advice, said Bamba.
At home, Bamba enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and playing guitar and says his goals are to enjoy life and not take anything for granted.
