Sgt. Edward Eagleton, an aircraft powertrain repairer from Illinois, assigned to the 1st Assault Helicopter Battalion, 106th Aviation Regiment, Illinois Army National Guard, joined in 2013 to take advantage of tuition assistance which he used to complete a bachelor's degree in mathematics.
Originally trained as an avionics mechanic, he wanted to learn more about helicopters and became a powertrain repairer able to work on several types of helicopters.
“The best part about my duty assignment is being able to do my job,” said Eagleton. “Working on helicopters is rewarding, and sometimes we get to fly in them.”
He enjoys learning about technology and was assigned additional duties as the battalion database administrator while deployed at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.
