Retired U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Ian Prescott and his family occupy their forever home provided by the Gary Sinise Foundation on September 20, 2023, during a ceremony in Crestview, Florida.
Ian Prescott, a former Green Beret who served with the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), faced unimaginable challenges during his time in service. He displayed unwavering courage even when severely injured during a combat mission in Afghanistan. His dedication led him to endure multiple hardships, including shattering his L1 and L2 vertebrae and sustaining damage to his spinal cord. In addition, Ian had to undergo surgeries that resulted in the removal of his left pancreas, diaphragm, and intestines.
The Gary Sinise Foundation stepped in to make a profound difference in Ian's life by constructing a custom-designed, smart home. This home is not just any home; it's a haven built with Ian's specific needs in mind. Wheelchair-accessible areas have been seamlessly integrated into the design, providing Ian with the freedom of movement he deserves.
