Soldiers assigned to 1st Platoon, C Company, 4th Special Troops Battalion, 4th Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, react to an opposition force’s near ambush while conducting a presence patrol Oct. 31, 2012, during the company’s “Operation: Mountain Sapper” training mission near a New Mexico mountain range approximately 70 miles northeast of Fort Bliss. The three-day, force-on-force exercise used Ultimate Training Munition paint rounds to provide realistic exercises that included route-clearance, offensive and defensive fighting strategies, as well as incorporating basic soldier tasks and drills.
