A U.S. Marine Corp pilot assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepares to fly a CH-53E Super Stallion Red Sands, after downloading equipment in support of Red Sands Integrated Experimentation Center 23.2, Sept. 5, 2023, on King Saud Air Base, at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Red Sands Live Effects 23.2 is a counter-small Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-sUAS) exercise conducted by the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces and U.S. Army Central. This bilateral exercise at the Shamal-2 Range in northeastern Saudi Arabia is the second iteration of the Red Sands Integrated Experimentation Center (IEC) concept, a forum to test and field counter-UAS systems and implement best practices to optimize interoperability between partners and systems.
