U.S. Army AH-64E Apache helicopters, operated by 4th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment Soldiers, in flight over Shamal-2 Range as part of Red Sands Integrated Experimentation Center 23.2 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sept. 7, 2023. Red Sands Live Effects 23.2 is a counter-small Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-sUAS) exercise conducted by the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces and U.S. Army Central. This bilateral exercise at the Shamal-2 Range in northeastern Saudi Arabia is the second iteration of the Red Sands Integrated Experimentation Center (IEC) concept, a forum to test and field counter-UAS systems and implement best practices to optimize interoperability between partners and systems.
