ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Nov. 28, 2023) - Kings Bay Submarine Base School Liaison Clainetta Jefferson (left), Naval Ordnance Test Unit (NOTU) Associate Chief Engineer Leslie Amodeo (center), and Strategic Weapons Facility-Atlantic (SWFLANT) Process Improvement Coordinator Caren Spahr (right) attend the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) workshop Tuesday, November 28. Nested under Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), SWFLANT and NOTU employees attended the day-long workshop—hosted by USNA's STEM Center for Education and Outreach and sponsored by the DoD and the Office of Naval Research—to learn about new and successful tactics, curriculum, and methods for STEM outreach at schools in local communities across the nation. SSP—responsible for the cradle-to-grave lifecycle support for the sea-based leg of the nation’s nuclear triad—anticipates an increase of more than 18 percent in its STEM professional community. To meet this growth and workforce sustainment goal, SSP’s Human Resources Division plans to bolster recruitment efforts within STEM fields. (U.S. Navy Photo by Lt. Jennifer Bowman/Released)
