Behind the Scenes - AMSA and ECS

    ALABAMA, UNITED STATES

    81st Readiness Division

Sgt. Guy Bryan, an active guard reserve mechanic assisting at area maintenance support activity (AMSA) 141 in Birmingham, Alabama, tightens nuts in a tire.

Army Reserve AMSA shops and ECSs are primarily staffed by military technicians. MilTechs at these locations service and repair multiple pieces of military equipment to include small arms, communications-electronics gear, and vehicles. In addition to repairing equipment, ECS sites provide storage for items that cannot stored at a unit’s physical location.

MilTechs perform vital roles across the Army Reserve. These dual-status technicians are required to serve in the Army Reserve as a condition of their civilian employment.
