The Naval War College hosted a Keel Plate Unveiling ceremony for the future USS J. William Middendorf (DDG 138) in Newport, RI., Dec. 11, 2023. Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro was the featured speaker for the event in honor of J. William Middendorf II, who served as the former U.S. Ambassador to The Netherlands, the 62nd Secretary of the Navy, and is the ship's namesake.
