Candidates in the Special Forces Readiness Evaluation held this past weekend by the 3rd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group, push through at the end of a downed-pilot team event, Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center. The downed-pilot event is both mentally and physically taxing, compounded by the previous four to five hours of grueling ruck marches and physical tasks they performed on the way to the final event. The final exercise involves assembling the carrying apparatus for the weighted bag representing the downed pilot, and then as a team, carrying it over rough terrain and long distances. 3-20th Soldiers use this as a tool to test and observehow individuals conduct themselves as individuals and as part of a team whild under mental and physical duress.
