Candidate 5 of this past weekends Special Forces Readiness Evaluation (all participants are given a number that they will go by), hosted at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center by 3rd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group, takes a quick breather as he helps lash together a carrying apparatus for the downed-pilot team exercise, Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023. The SFRE takes place over three days and is just the first step in the path to joining the special operations community. It is not selection, it is the test that determines whether 3-20th deems you a quality fit for the organization and an applicant likely to succeed at the selection process held at Fort Liberty, NC. The SFRE is open to civilians and servicemembers of all branches. (Photo by Sgt. Spencer Rhodes, 107th MPAD)
