Together with Al-Ghadeer Studio for Fine Arts, USAID brought 24 local artists together to paint a remarkable 79 murals across Basrah city and the neighboring Zubair district.
These vibrant street artworks, strategically placed near schools, hospitals, and libraries, showcase themes of arts and culture, education, and climate. As part of the project, the artists engaged with local youth leaders, parents, and community members to ensure they resonate with the community.
The response to the murals has been heartwarming. Passersby and residents have welcomed these artistic additions with open arms, even offering drinks and fruit to the artists as a token of gratitude. At Basrah Children’s Hospital, several doctor-artists even volunteered their skills to contribute to these beautiful murals.
